Introduction #
Lead conversion mapping defines how a lead's information is transferred to target modules when the lead is converted. When a lead becomes a qualified customer, Kafinea can automatically create a customer account, a contact, and a deal based on the lead's data. This configuration can be accessed via Settings > Data Mapping > Lead Conversion.
1. Principle of conversion #
When you convert a lead, Kafinea allows you to create up to three records:
- Customer Account: The Prospect's Company
- Contact: the individual
- Case: The associated business opportunity
Mapping specifies, for each field in the source module, which field in the target module the value will be copied to.
2. Configure the mapping #
On the configuration page, you can see the mapping between the fields in the Prospects module and the fields in the target modules:
| Prospect Field | → Customer Account | → Contact | → Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Company | Account name | — | — |
| First name | — | First name | — |
| Name | — | Name | — |
| — | |||
| Phone | Phone | Phone | — |
You can modify these mappings to suit your business needs.
Good to know: If a field in the lead record does not have a defined mapping, its value will not be transferred during the conversion. Required fields in the target modules must have a mapping or be entered manually during the conversion.
3. Frequently Asked Questions #
Does conversion delete the lead?
No, the lead is retained, but its status is updated to indicate that it has been converted. A link to the created records is added.
Can I convert a lead without creating a deal?
Yes, during the conversion process, you can choose to create only the customer account and the contact, without a deal.
How do I add a new field to the mapping?
If you have created a custom field in the Prospects module, add it to the mapping by mapping it to the appropriate target field.
