Introduction #
The Cash Transactions module records financial transactions performed on cash registers: cash receipts, refunds, petty cash, withdrawals, etc. It is accessible via Points of Sale > Cash Transactions.
1. Contents of a cash transaction #
Each movement records:
- Number: the unique identifier for the transaction
- Cash register: the cash register in question
- Amount: the amount of the transaction (positive for a deposit, negative for a withdrawal)
- Description: the transaction details
2. Types of movements #
Cash transactions include various operations:
- Receipt: payment received from a customer
- Refund: the return of a sum of money to a customer
- Cash on hand: Setting up the cash on hand at the start of the day
- Withdrawal: taking cash from the cash register (for deposit at the bank, etc.)
3. Consultation #
Cash transactions can be viewed:
- From the master list: Points of Sale > Cash Register Transactions for an overview
- From a cash register: tab Transactions to view the history of a specific cash register
4. Frequently Asked Questions #
Can cash transactions be modified?
Cash transactions are generally generated automatically by the POS system and cannot be modified manually, in order to ensure the integrity of financial traceability.
How do you perform the end-of-day cash reconciliation?
Compare the total transactions for the day with the actual cash on hand. Any discrepancies must be documented.
