These transactions can be imported automatically via a bank API connection or manually via an OFX file. They are accessible via <em><strong>Finances &gt; Bank Transactions<\/strong><\/em>.  <\/p>\n<p>Bank transactions are at the heart of the <strong>bank reconciliation<\/strong> process: they are matched with accounting documents (invoices, payments, manual entries) to verify consistency between your accounting and your bank statements.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>1. Contents of a Bank Transaction<\/h2>\n<p>Each transaction records the following information:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transaction:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bank Account<\/strong>: the business account concerned<\/li>\n<li><strong>Date<\/strong>: the date of the operation<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amount<\/strong>: the transaction amount (positive for a credit, negative for a debit)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Description<\/strong>: the operation label as it appears on the bank statement<\/li>\n<li><strong>Simplified Description<\/strong>: a cleaned version of the label for easier reading<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transaction Type<\/strong>: the type of bank operation<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transaction ID<\/strong>: the unique identifier of the transaction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Status:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Active<\/strong>: indicates whether the transaction is taken into account<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pending<\/strong>: indicates an operation awaiting posting by the bank<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reconciliation<\/strong>: the link to the associated bank reconciliation, if applicable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Amount in Currency:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For foreign currency operations, the original amount and currency are retained<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<h2>2. Importing Transactions<\/h2>\n<p>Transactions can be fed in two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bank API Connection<\/strong>: automatic synchronization with your bank. Transactions are retrieved regularly with their date, amount, and description <\/li>\n<li><strong>OFX File Import<\/strong>: manual import of a file in OFX (Open Financial Exchange) format exported from your online banking portal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Good to Know<\/strong>: During import, Kafinea automatically detects duplicates using the unique identifier of each transaction, thus avoiding duplicate imports.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<h2>3. Bank Reconciliation<\/h2>\n<p>Bank transactions are used in the bank reconciliation process, accessible via <em><strong>Finances &gt; Accounting &gt; Bank<\/strong><\/em>. This process consists of matching each transaction with one or more accounting documents (payments, invoices, manual entries) to ensure that your accounting accurately reflects the actual movements in your bank account. <\/p>\n<p>For more details on reconciliation, see the <a href=\"..\/100_comptabilite\/050_les-rapprochements-bancaires.md\">Bank Reconciliations<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>4. Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Can bank transactions be modified?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe main information (amount, date, original description) cannot be modified as it comes from the bank. The comment and certain status fields can be adjusted. <\/p>\n<p><strong>How to handle a transaction that does not appear?<\/strong><br \/>\nCheck that the API synchronization is up to date (<em><strong>Last Update<\/strong><\/em> field). If you are using OFX import, ensure that the file period covers the date of the transaction you are looking for. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What does the &#8220;Pending&#8221; status mean?<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is an operation announced by the bank but not yet definitively posted.
