Introduction #
User preferences allow each user to customize their experience in Kafinea: display language, time zone, date format, currency, etc. They can be accessed from My Profile > Preferences or via Settings > User Management > Users (for an administrator).
1. Available settings #
Language and Localization #
- Language: the interface display language (French, English, etc.)
- Time zone: the time zone used to display dates and times
- Date format: the format used to display dates (dd-mm-yyyy, mm-dd-yyyy, etc.)
Currency and Numbers #
- Currency: the default currency for the user's transactions
- Thousand separator and decimal separator: number formatting
- Number of decimal places: the number of digits after the decimal point
Post #
- Number of records per page: the number of rows displayed in the lists
- Theme: the visual theme of the interface
Email signature #
- The signature automatically added to emails sent from Kafinea
2. Default vs. Custom Settings #
Preferences are set at two levels:
- Default: the values set by the administrator, applied to new users
- Individual: Each user can change their own preferences, which override the default settings
3. Frequently Asked Questions #
How do I change the interface language?
Access your preferences via My Profile > Preferences, change the Language field, and save. The change takes effect immediately.
Can an administrator change another user's preferences?
Yes, from Settings > User Management > Users, the administrator can access any record and modify their preferences.
Does the date format affect exports?
The date format in Preferences only affects how dates are displayed in the interface. Exports (CSV, PDF) may use a different format depending on the configured template.
