Introduction #

The Cash Registers module allows you to manage the cash registers installed at your retail locations. Each cash register is configured with its own display, printing, and pricing settings. The module is accessible via Points of Sale > Cash Registers.


1. Set up a cash register #

Click on Add a cash register from the module list.

General information:

  • Name: the name of the fund (required)
  • Number: the cash register ID
  • Technical user: the user account associated with the cash register

Cash balance:

  • Information on the current status of the cash register (open, closed, current balance)

Settings:

  • Configuring checkout settings (accepted payment methods, rounding, etc.)

Print settings:

  • Configuring receipt settings (format, information to be printed)

Price settings:

  • Price Display Settings (Including Tax, Excluding Tax, Decimal Places)

Color settings:

  • Customization of the checkout interface

2. Usage #

The Kafinea cash register allows you to:

  • Processing sales at physical retail locations
  • Manage payment methods: cash, credit card, check, etc.
  • Print receipts that comply with regulations
  • Track cash flow: cash on hand, withdrawals, and receipts

3. Regulatory Compliance #

Important: In France, point-of-sale software must comply with requirements regarding data integrity, security, retention, and archiving (VAT anti-fraud law). Kafinea is designed to meet these requirements.


4. Frequently Asked Questions #

Can I have multiple registers at a single location?
Yes, a location can have multiple registers, each with its own configuration.

How do I open and close the cash register?
The cash register is opened at the start of the day by entering the starting cash balance. It is closed at the end of the day by counting the cash and reconciling the balance.

Do point-of-sale transactions generate receipts?
Yes, each point-of-sale transaction generates a receipt or an invoice the configuration, including the required legal information.
