Introduction #
The Versatility Matrices module allows you to assess and visualize employee skills within a department. A versatility matrix cross-references individuals with the required skills to identify a team’s strengths and areas for development. It is accessible via Human Resources > Versatility Matrices.
1. Create a versatility matrix #
Click on Add a matrix from the module list.
Information to provide:
- Service: The service being evaluated (required)
- Date: the date of the evaluation
The matrix is then populated with the assessed skills and proficiency levels of each employee in the department.
2. Usage #
The versatility matrix is a management tool that allows you to:
- Identify critical skills: identify skills possessed by a single employee (risk in the event of absence)
- Planning training: identifying the skills to be developed to enhance the team’s versatility
- Organize substitutions: know who can substitute for whom if necessary
- Track progress: compare matrices over time to measure skill development
3. Frequently Asked Questions #
How often should the matrix be updated?
It is recommended that an assessment be conducted at least once a year, or after each significant training session. Each assessment generates a new matrix, which allows you to track progress over time.
Is the matrix linked to training programs?
The matrix identifies skill needs, but the link to training programs is organizational. Use the results of the matrix to plan appropriate training sessions.
