Introduction #
Kafinea is a multilingual application. The interface, field labels, and menus can be displayed in different languages. Language settings can be accessed via Settings > Languages and Translations.
1. Available languages #
Kafinea comes with French and English. Other languages can be added as needed. Each user can select their display language in their user preferences.
2. Customize translations #
You can customize the labels displayed in the interface to match your business terminology. For example, you can rename "Accounts Receivable" to "Customers" or "Prospects" to "Leads."
Custom translations are stored separately from standard translations, which ensures they are preserved during Kafinea updates.
Good to know: Translation customizations apply to all users who use the language in question.
3. Translation of value lists #
Drop-down lists can also be translated. This allows the values to be displayed in each user’s language while maintaining a single technical value in the database.
4. Frequently Asked Questions #
Does the language affect PDF documents?
PDF documents (invoices, quotes) use the translations for the language configured for document generation, which may differ from the user interface language.
Can I add a new language?
Yes, new languages can be added. This requires creating the corresponding translation files. Contact your administrator or the Kafinea team for assistance with this.
Are custom translations preserved during updates?
Yes, customizations are stored separately and are not overwritten by Kafinea updates.
